  2. Karekare is a small coastal settlement in West Auckland, New Zealand, sandwiched between the Waitākere Ranges and a large black sand surf beach. Geography. It is located 35 kilometres (22 mi) west of Auckland city centre, south of the larger beach of Piha.

While getting to the waterfall is pretty straightforward, it can be a bit tricky to get onto the beach. Before heading out to the Karekare area, I read that it can get a bit confusing to get onto Karekare Beach itself.
