Dotada de un gran reparto, la historia nos traslada a la búsqueda que realiza el teniente general de la KGB, Yevgraf Andréyevich Zhivago (Alec Guiness), de la hija ilegítima de su hermanastro, el poeta y médico Yuri Andrédevich Zhivago (Omar Sharif), y de su amante, Larisa “Lara” (Julie Christie).
