Klaatu (/ ˈ k l ɑː t uː /) was a Canadian rock group formed in 1973 by the duo of John Woloschuk and Dee Long. They named themselves after an ambassador, Klaatu, from an extraterrestrial confederation who visits Earth with his companion robot Gort in the film The Day the Earth Stood Still.

I had performed live before Klaatu. I was never a real big fan of performing live, because you know, the kind of music that I was interested in was hard to do live, unless you had a lot of musicians, and also there was a lack of venues that were suitable for the kind of music that we were doing.
