John Paul Jones will be remembered in history as a naval hero to some and a pirate to others. John had an education, being sent to Kirkbean School. However, he spent much of his time off at the nearby port of Carsethorn.
18 de may. de 2018 · Born in Kirkcudbrightshire, on the Solway Firth, John Paul was the son of the gardener at Arbigland, which was the estate of William Craik (father of Dr. James Craik). After receiving a rudimentary education at the Kirkbean Parish school, young John Paul crossed the Solway in 1761 to become apprentice to a shipowner in Whitehaven.

28 de oct. de 2020 · Early Life. Born John Paul on July 6, 1747, at Kirkcudbright, Scotland, John Paul Jones was the son of a gardener. Going to sea at age 13, he first served aboard the merchant ship Friendship which operated out of Whitehaven. Progressing through the merchant ranks, he sailed on both trading vessels and those carrying enslaved people.
