La evolución del concepto de inteligencia emocional. Así que tras el libro de Goleman, en 1997, Mayer y Salovey retoman sus ideas iniciales y desarrollaron el modelo de habilidades y denominaron como mixtos al resto de los modelos (Mayer, Salovey y Caruso, 2000a).
Mediante preguntas basadas en situaciones cotidianas, el TIEMSC mide la capacidad de las personas para responder a tareas sociales, leer expresiones faciales y resolver problemas emocionales. El TIEMSC se utiliza en entornos corporativos, educativos, de investigación y terapéuticos.

Abstract. Some individuals have a greater capacity than others to carry out sophisticated information processing about emotions and emotion-relevant stimuli and to use this information as a guide to thinking and behavior. The authors have termed this set of abilities emotional intelligence (EI).
