The Institute of Contemporary Art ( ICA) is an art museum and exhibition space located in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. The museum was founded as the Boston Museum of Modern Art in 1936. Since then it has gone through multiple name changes as well as moving its galleries and support spaces over 13 times.
For 85 years, the ICA has presented contemporary art in all media—visual arts, performance, film, video, and literature—and created educational programs that encourage appreciation for contemporary culture.
El Instituto de Arte Contemporáneo ( ICA) es un museo de arte y espacio de exhibición ubicado en la ciudad de Boston, la capital del estado de Massachusetts ( Estados Unidos ). Fue fundado como el Museo de Arte Moderno de Boston en 1936 con la misión de exhibir arte contemporáneo.
Opened in 2006, the ICA is a building of international architectural status, a world-class contemporary art venue, and an icon for Boston in the new century. The ICA’s visionary building captures the stimulation of contemporary culture and the excitement of a revitalized Boston waterfront.
