La llegada del ferrocarril a la zona hizo que Inglewood fuera establecida en 1888, forjándose a partir 25.000 acres del Rancho Centinela, el cual contenía a Centinela Adobe. En 1908 contaba con 1200 habitantes.

History. The Aguaje de Centinela was a spring used by Native Californians, Californios, and early Americans. The earliest residents of what is now Inglewood were Native Americans who used the Aguaje de Centinela natural springs in today's Edward Vincent Jr. Park (known for most of its history as Centinela Park).
City History. Settlement. Inglewood's rich history begins with the Centinela Adobe, situated on Rancho Agape de la Centinela, which was built in 1834 by Ignacio Machado, son of one of the soldiers protecting the first settlers of Los Angeles on their way from Mexico.
