28 de nov. de 2009 · Si quieres decir que tu cumpleaños es en el invierno, se dice así: My birthday is in the winter. Más o menos mi cumpleaños es en el invierno. Nunca decimos «on winter» porque no es un uso correcto de esa preposición. Para hacerlo más facil, con días usamos «on».

28 de mar. de 2024 · Both phrases are correct, but they’re used differently. “In winter” refers to the season in general, like saying “In winter, it snows.” It talks about what usually happens during this time of year. On the other hand, “in the winter” points to a specific winter season. For example, “I learned skiing in the winter.”

As Lambie mentions in his comment, there is little (if any) difference between "in winter" and "in the winter", and it's not a stylistic difference between BrE and AmE (or any of the other Es). Instead it's more a stylistic choice based on what "sounds good" in a particular sentence: Many animals store up body fat and hibernate in the winter.
6 de sept. de 2015 · We use "on" when the word "day" is occurring as in "on a hot summer day", we use "on" in connection with the days of the week or when the concept of "day" has more influence than the concept of "time of the day". So you find "on a cold winter morning" and not "in a cold winter morning".
