I never played any other MGS games but I was blown away by the gameplay at that time, I still like it and finished the game both on PS4 and PC. That's thanks to Hideo that I discovered Midge Ure's work out of Ultravox (that I knew thanks to my mom) and some other songs in the game that now play daily on my playlists ahah.
