Conditional sentences consist of two parts: The if-clause (which is a condition) and the main clause (which is a result) For example: If it rains, we will cancel the trip. If it rains …. is the if-clause (the condition) An if-clause begins with IF and has a subject and a verb.
Conditionals describe the result of a certain condition. The if clause tells you the condition (If you study hard) and the main clause tells you the result (you will pass your exams). The order of the clauses does not change the meaning. If you study hard, you will pass your exams. You will pass your exams if you study hard.

This is how we indicate that under a certain condition (as expressed in the if-clause), a specific result will likely happen in the future.
Conditionals are if clauses: they express a situation or condition and its possible result. They are made up of two clauses; the conditional clause and the main clause. The former usually starts with the word if and sets out a condition, while the latter expresses what happens when this condition is fulfilled.
