This imagery of sitting quietly with someone in shade is interesting in light of recent lyrics, “years of labour, locks and ceilings, in the shade of how he was feeling”. I feel like this is sister imagery; in Paris the shade is a peaceful and quiet escape from the rest of the world, and in Fresh Out The Slammer the shade is a sort of prison that keeps her isolated.

It made me bop around (in public which is very out of character for me), and I was like “oh this is a happy love song that makes you feel good!” WRONG.
