There are different ways how to tell the time in German. Full hour. When it is a full hour, we are using the same construction as in English: Es ist XY Uhr (=It is XY o'clock) 2AM: Es ist zwei Uhr; 8AM: Es ist acht Uhr; Telling the exact time. For 3:22AM, in English you would say: It’s three twenty-two.
There are different ways to tell the time in German. The 24-hour clock is used for official information (e.g. programmes, timetables), but in spoken language, we also use the 12-hour clock. Read on to learn how to tell the time in German, then test your knowledge in the exercises.
The Time System in Germany. We Germans use the 24-hour system. If you see an hour greater than 12 just subtract 12 to get the p.m. time. For example: 14:00 Uhr It’s 2pm. (14 – 12 = 2) Counting in German is not difficult. Can you do it?

If you think about it, saying “what time” doesn’t make a whole lot of sense anyway. In German, this translates to “How many hours do we have?” This at least fits logically into the whole counting-hours thing that our clocks do.

28 de feb. de 2023 · ¿Cómo se dice la hora en alemán? Para poder dar la hora en alemán no necesitas mucho, solo los números del 1 al 59. Para ello se utiliza la expresión Es ist , que equivaldría a “es” o “son”, esto es, la misma fórmula que usarías si estuvieras diciendo la hora en español.
