I must admit I find the constant use of "Heroes" as an uplifting anthem infuriating, because - as you say - the song undermines itself constantly, proposing argument and counter-argument. Incidentally, I've long thought of Where Are We Now as a "Heroes" couple grown up, middle-aged, mundane and disappointed.
