History. Founded in 1945 by Viennese-born American actor/director Herbert Berghof, HB Studio is one of the original New York acting studios, providing training and practice in the performing arts.. In 1948, Uta Hagen joined the Studio as Berghof's artistic partner, and the two wed ten years later. Her master classes led to the writing of her books Respect for Acting and A Challenge for the Actor.
Motivational, passionate and deeply skilled, are three characteristics which Hannah never fails to demonstrate. From her excellent improvisation techniques to her flawless ability to encourage students, she is one to be in awe of and definitely one to have as an educator. Every actor she aids sees the difference; her teaching makes a difference.

Students receive training rooted in Berghof and Meisner's approaches through scene study, script analysis, and exercises focused on authenticity.
HBA (HB Acting) delivers first class acting, drama and LAMDA (London Academy of Music, Dance & Arts) tuition in Greater Manchester and Cheshire. The company delivers one to one, duo and group lessons. HBA also delivers LAMDA courses for a number of schools in Greater Manchester and Cheshire, as well direct student tuition and open group sessions.
