Es una mariquita originaria de Asia que ha sido introducida en Norteamérica, Europa y Sudamérica con el fin de controlar a los pulgones. Harmonia axyridis es una especie invasora que fue introducida en México y otros países como control biológico (Quiñones & Tarango, 2005; Carbonell & Sesma, 2013). Impacta a la agricultura, vinicultura (Linder et al., 2009; Carbonell & Sesma, 2013) y fruticultura (Koch, 2003).
