Gwendoline Mary Lacey, nicknamed Dear Gwendoline Mary, is one of the main antagonists of the series. She came to Malory Towers at the same time as Darrell. Gwen is vain and shallow, attaching herself to any new girl she thinks is glamorous, rich, or gifted.
Gwendoline Lacey, often referred to as Gwen, is described as selfish, lazy, conceited, hypocritical, spoilt, deceitful, determined and very clever when she badly wants her own way. Gwendoline is an only child and is repeatedly spoiled by her Mother and her old governess Miss Winter.
The Malory Towers stories largely centre on the intertwined stories of Darrell and Gwendoline, along with Alicia Johns, Sally Hope and Mary-Lou. The first book ends with Darrell finding a best friend in Sally Hope.

Malory Towers is a 2020s British and Canadian children's historical drama television series based on the eponymous book series of the same name by Enid Blyton. The first series were released early on BBC iPlayer on 23 March 2020, and later premiered on CBBC on 6 April 2020 in the United Kingdom.
