Writer Maxim Gorky was born in Nizhny Novgorod in 1868, and in 1932 the town was renamed in his honor by the Soviet regime. Its original name was restored in 1990.

En cambio el parque de la victoria, se debe a una conmemoración de la Segunda Guerra Mundial , donde puedes encontrar un obelisco de nada menos 114 metros y una iglesia ortodoxa.
