Through symbols of dark and light, the book challenges superficial perceptions of inherent good or evil.
But in fairness, humans seem special in the Good Omens universe. Powers that affect angels and demons (like Adam's ability to go undetected) don't affect normal humans, and it's humans, not angels, who determine what is holy ground (remember, Heaven isn't holy ground, but the church is).
