George Lucas (born 1944) is an American film director, screenwriter, producer, editor, and entrepreneur. His most well known work includes both the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises and establishing Lucasfilm. In addition to producing feature films, he has also created television series and written books.
This would make the fifth installment, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, become the first film in the franchise and Lucasfilm's first film overall to be co-produced by Walt Disney Pictures. Kathleen Kennedy era, 2012–present
• Lucasfilm releases Red Tails, a historical film inspired by the Tuskegee Airmen, the first Black flying unit in a segregated U.S. military during World War II. Later that year, Kathleen Kennedy joins as president before Lucasfilm is sold to the Walt Disney Company.
Lucas originally did not specify whether the selling of Lucasfilm would affect his involvement with the film. In October 2016, Lucas announced his decision to not be involved in the story of the film but would remain an executive producer. In 2016, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the first film of a Star Wars anthology series was released.

In 1971, Coppola went into production for The Godfather (1972), and Lucas formed his own company, Lucasfilm Ltd. In 1973, he wrote and directed the semiautobiographical American Graffiti (1973) which won the Golden Globe and garnered five Academy Award nominations.
