LaGuardia, who then gave them to New York City Board of Transportation chairman John H. Delaney. The city government then took over the IRT's operations on June 12, 1940.

Although its official address is 895 Shore Road, the house is within a wooded portion of the park and is accessible only via a driveway extending 200 yards (180 m) off Shore Road. There is a parking lot in front of the mansion, at the end of the driveway.
