The original members of the band met in and around the middle-class neighborhood of Forest Hills in the New York City borough of Queens. John Cummings and Thomas Erdelyi had both been in a high-school garage band from 1965 to 1967 known as the Tangerine Puppets.
Hace 1 día · If FAIRPORT CONVENTION were the foremost folk-rock ensemble in England in the ’70s, the next decade found them at a loss, August 4th, 1979 marking the band’s farewell performance – staged at the village of Cropredy where they promised to reunite every summer afterwards and followed up on that promise, thus establishing an annual festival which would pull a lot of punters.

The song appeared on Fairport Convention’s fourth album, What We Did on Our Holidays, which was released in 1969. The song has become one of the band’s most enduring and beloved works.
