Edward "Eddie" Jackson was the estranged husband of Sheila and father of Karen. Though his marriage was already in trouble in the Pilot, he split with Sheila before work one day when he found Karen under the table, giving Ian Gallagher oral sex.
Eddie Jackson is Sheila Jackson's ex-husband and father to Karen. Frank Gallagher often refers to him as "Eddie the Owl", referring either to his fondness for collecting cuddly toy owls (as seen when he moves out of the Jackson household in series 1), the appearance of his face, or both.

The only thing that I have slight sympathy for Eddie for is him taking his own life. However, what Eddie really needed to do was put down the damn Bible and really spend time with his family!
