Guitar. Years active. 1976–present. Richard G. " Dik " Evans (born 1957) is an Irish musician. He is a co-founder and guitarist of the band Virgin Prunes, and a co-founder and early guitarist of the band that later became U2. He is the older brother of U2 guitarist The Edge .
Richard “Dik” Evans was a founding member of the Virgin Prunes and guitarist with the band from 1977 until 1984. He later formed Kid Sisters with singer Debbie Skhow. After a line up change they continued as Screech Owls (’88 – ’96). The band released two singles: “Desert / Hey Toreador” and “Pray For Rain / 29 palm trees”.
David Howell Evans (born 8 August 1961), better known as the Edge or simply Edge, [1] is a British-Irish musician, singer, and songwriter. He is best known as the lead guitarist, keyboardist, and backing vocalist of the rock band U2. A member of the group since its inception, he has recorded 15 studio albums with them as well as one solo record.

Dik left the group before it became U2 and became a founding member of Virgin Prunes, which he left in 1984. In 1988 he played on one track on the first album by The Prunes (2).
The Virgin Prunes were founded in 1977 by vocalists Guggi (né Derek Rowen), Gavin Friday (né Fionan Hanvey) and Dave-iD Busaras, guitarist Dik Evans (brother of U2's The Edge), bassist Strongman (Trevor Rowen, brother of Guggi) and drummer Pod (Anthony Murphy).
