People still respond to Davy Jones for the same reason Two Towers Gollum falls flat: Subsurface Scattering. Davy's got it, Gollum gets it for maybe Return of the King, I can't remember. That was the point where we started making believable CG, and Davy's legitimately the first one to hold up over time like he has.
