The award recognizes Orr’s contributions to promoting green energy policy, including the eight books and more than 200 articles he has written; the hundreds of lectures he has given worldwide; and his work with the Adam Joseph Lewis Center, named one of 30 milestone buildings of the 20th century by the U.S. Department of Energy.

This amount represents awarded damages and accumulated interest, and therefore no further payments are required. On August 30, the Ohio Supreme Court issued its decision not to hear Oberlin's appeal.
