Detective Lilly Rush investigates a case of a girl who was beaten to death on a tennis court during a party in 1976. This first "Cold Case" episode, set in 2003, finds Rush working on a triple murder when a fellow detective asks her to take an interview with a woman who reports a murder she witnessed over 25 years ago.
