These notes explain the Cherubim (Cherubs) and Seraphim (Seraphs) that we encounter in the Bible. We ignore speculations and assertions that have no Biblical support.
Seraphim and Cherubim are spirit beings that reside in the spiritual realm, not the embodied terrestrial world. These descriptions are metaphors that tell us about the role or function of the spirits.
What are the various types of angels in Scripture? Scripture mentions three types: cherubim, seraphim, and living creatures. We will consider each.
21 de dic. de 2014 · They are distinct from the cherubim who carry or veil God, and show the presence of His glory in the earthly sanctuary, whilst the seraphim stand before God as ministering servants in the heavenly court.
This lower status of cherubim may also be reflected in the Jewish liturgy. For example, the Kedushah, a Jewish prayer that imitates the angelic chorus praising God, mentions seraphim and ophanim, but not cherubim.
