King Gizzard were scheduled to go out on the road following the album's release, but rescheduled the dates for 2022. Fans had to be satisfied by the steady release of archived live shows, and the release in early 2022 of Butterfly 3001, a remix album that featured a number of artists reworking songs from Butterfly 3000.

Changes es el tercero de una trilogía de discos de King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard para el mes de octubre de 2022. Este sexteto llevaba media década persiguiendo un elusivo proyecto conceptual que no les impidió ir sacando discos. Empezaron a pensar en este por 2017, un año muy fructífero para el grupo.
