Cate Blanchett is outstanding, which really should go without saying, but her performance in this film is truly unforgettable. Back when I saw Elizabeth for the first time (and believe me, I have seen it at least 5 more times since then) I immediately fell in love with everything about it, and I still think this is one of the best period dramas ever made.
