  2. 10 de jul. de 2023 · Details of Nydia, the Blind Flower Girl of Pompeii, 1853–54; carved 1859. There’s a lot of detail here for the blind beholder’s fingers, a lot of virtuosic carving. Regularly spaced horizontal lines all down her staff suggest bamboo. The carving of the fallen Corinthian capitol is crisp and precise.
