Bertrand Russell en su juventud. Russell quedó huérfano a la edad de seis años, tras la muerte de su hermana y su madre debido a la difteria y seguidamente de su padre, quien no pudo recuperarse de la pérdida de su esposa e hija y finalmente se dejó morir en 1878.

His contributions to logic, epistemology, and the philosophy of mathematics made him one of the foremost philosophers of the 20th century.
In 1927 he and his wife started a school for young children, which they carried on until 1932. He succeeded to the earldom in 1931. He was divorced by his second wife in 1935 and the following year married Patricia Helen Spence. In 1938 he went to the United States and during the next years taught at many of the country’s leading universities.
