Although they were in their late thirties , we could argue people expected them to still have a son as Jocelyn’s mother Alyssa retained her fertility throughout her 40s and so did her sister Alyssane. Per the Targaryen custom, Visenya was cremated and laid beside her brother and husband, Aegon. After Visenya's death, the era of the Conquest was over.
Hm, so there are two possibilities: Velaryons have been intermarried only with each other (cousin marriages) or Celtigars or Old Valyrian families from Essos. And we know it is a lie, because Alyssa Velaryon's mother was a Massey. Velaryons are NOT pure Valyrians since they intermarried with several other houses.
