7 de sept. de 2023 · The ABCDE approach aims to improve the clinical outcome of unwell patients, regardless of the definitive diagnosis. It is not a substitute for formally examining a specific system you are concerned about. It can help you identify life-threatening problems and structure your response in a real clinical setting.
The aim of the ABCDE assessment is to keep the patient alive and achieve the first steps to improvement – this will buy time to make a diagnosis and start further treatment. The key points are: Use the Airway, Breathing, Circulation, Disability, Exposure (ABCDE) approach to assess and treat the patient.
