There are many biomes across the world. However, the five main types of biomes include aquatic, grassland, forest, desert, and tundra.
This map shows the locations of the world's major land biomes. Other parts of Earth's surface are clas-sified as mountains or ice caps. Each biome has a characteristic climate and community of organisms. Ecologists recognize at least ten different biomes.
