Joanna Newsom-Ys. Some albums transfix you to a time and place and that’s how I feel about this one. Joanna Newsom’s voice just feels old and rustic and orchestral arrangements make you feel like you are being swept away to some mystical land far away.
“Sawdust And Diamonds” Newsom playing the harp so beautifully. Her voice sounds affirming and strong that meshes well with orchestration. “Only Skin” is the longest song on the album.
r/JoannaNewsom. • 13 hr. ago. SudoMint. New Album Sound. I'm really hoping the new album sounds closer to HooM than Divers or Ys. All of her albums have a pastoral sound to them, but HooM for me is the pinnacle. The bare bones production lends a warmth to it that Divers lacks.
