His albums are entitled The Year I Grew Up and On Mountain Time. Cook has also played with Sugarland and Shawn Mullins . Cook joined the Zac Brown Band , and their album You Get What You Give was nominated for the 2011 Grammy's, marking Cook's first recorded material that has been nominated.

The multi-instrumentalist plays flute, saxophone,keyboards and guitar with the Southern rock Marshall Tucker Band. He was the original bass player for the country upstarts Sugarland.
As a solo artist, Cook has recorded a handful of independently released albums including 2001's Lead Me On, 2003's Self Serving, 2004's Smoke & Mirrors, 2005's Natural Progression, 2008's Year I Grew Up, and 2009's On Mountain Time.
