Delia Ann Derbyshire (5 May 1937 – 3 July 2001) [1] was an English musician and composer of electronic music. [2] She carried out notable work with the BBC Radiophonic Workshop during the 1960s, including her electronic arrangement of the theme music to the British science-fiction television series Doctor Who.
Excelling in mathematics and music, she later went on to work for the legendary BBC Radiophonic Workshop, helping to promote and influence the course of electronic music forever. Best known for the theme tune for Doctor Who, arguably one of the most famous pieces of electronic music ever produced.
