Woodrow Wilson Guthrie was born on July 14, 1912 in Okemah, Oklahoma. Over the decades, his songs have run around the world like a fast train on a well-oiled track. They've become the folk song standards of the nation, known and performed in many languages throughout the world.
1930s, and biographer Joe Klein accepts Guthrie's. assertion that he joined the Party sometime in. In 1939 Oklahoma-born folksinger Woody Guthrie penned a column entitled "Woody Sez" for the People's Daily World, the West Coast Communist Party newspaper published in San Francisco.
Featuring many classic Woody tunes including “This Land is Your Land” and “Bound for Glory,” Woody Sez captures the heart and spirit of Woody Guthrie and the stories of America. In Woody’s spirit, the A.R.T. is hosting post-show hootenannies after select performances led by cast members and other local artists.
