Wire To Wire crackles with the resulting voltage from Texas swing and Bakersfield country and even Merseybeat pop all zapping into the same transformer. Austin Chronicle Wire to Wire is a winner right out of the gate with "Winner's Circle," which opens what Burch describes as a "string of episodes that takes place in time from sundown to sundown."
The production team (Hank Tilbury, Burch and Paul Niehaus, with assistance from George Bradfute) has done a first-rate job of capturing the sound of this mythic warm summer night. For all the yearning we young folks — who mostly didn’t, after all, have to live through the ’50s — have for the classic country era, it’s easy to get caught up in the costume and illusion of recreation.

26 de oct. de 2017 · Sadly, he seems to have left Calexico and to me, his playing was integral part of their sound. In my opinion, Calexico peaked with "Feast of Wire" (2003), though they still put out some really great albums. Niehaus still seems to be pretty busy with Justin Townes Earle and I hope to catch him in Berlin again soon.
