Hace 4 días · 多作なソング・ライターとして知られるWillie Dixonは、ベース・プレイヤーやプロデューサーとしても活躍した。 シンガーとしては1960年代にMemphis Slimと組んでアルバムを作り、70年代には社会派な作品も生んだが、晩年の『Hidden Charms』こそがDixonの最高傑作である。 アルバムは実にシンプルだ。 リストには往年に書かれた名曲が並び、ギターとハープをフィーチャーした伝統的なシカゴ・スタイルをバックに、Dixonは魅力的な低音の効いたボーカルでそれらを歌い上げている。 「Study War No More」は彼の孫であるAlex Dixonと共作したナンバーだが、曲調そのものは大ヒット曲の「Spoonful」を思い出させる。
