William Colonel Smith Jr. (born February 6, 1982) is an American politician a member of the Maryland Senate representing District 20 since 2016. He previously represented the district in the Maryland House of Delegates from 2015 to 2016.

William C. Smith Jr. was born and raised in Silver Spring, Maryland. His parents were young adults during the height of the civil rights movement. It was their struggle and sacrifice that opened doors of opportunity for Will.
Lt. William C. Smith, Jr. serves as an intelligence officer in the United States Navy Reserves and is currently assigned to a unit at the Pentagon. In March of 2019, Smith deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, serving in Kabul, Afghanistan until October of 2019.
