William S. Burroughs, född 5 februari 1914 i St. Louis, Missouri, död 2 augusti 1997 i Lawrence, Kansas, var en amerikansk författare, bland annat till den hallucinatoriska kultromanen Den nakna lunchen (Naked Lunch) och den självbiografiska Tjacket (Junkie).
The Burroughs Corporation began in 1886 as the American Arithmometer (adding machine) Company in St. Louis, Missouri selling an Arithmometer invented by William Seward Burroughs. The company moved to Detroit in 1904 and changed its name to the Burroughs Adding Machine Company, in honor of Burroughs, who died in 1898.
