When the Eagle Flies is the seventh studio album by English rock band Traffic, released in 1974. The album featured Jim Capaldi, Steve Winwood and Chris Wood, with Rosko Gee on bass guitar. Percussionist Rebop Kwaku Baah was fired prior to the album's completion, but two tracks feature his playing.

10 de ago. de 2011 · When workers paid for their fun during Friday night parties the evening of payday, you could say that "the eagle was flying" whenever they threw coins to a bartender to pay for a drink. I wonder if this "eagle flies at midnight" phrase is an adaptation of this expression.
A reference to the bald eagle that is featured prominently on American currency. Used most often in the US Military. Primarily heard in US. I'll have to wait until the eagle flies to pay these bills. The troops are always eager to venture into town when the eagle flies.

Released in the fall of 1974, When the Eagle Flies was Traffic’s swan song. Since the band’s humble beginnings, Steve Winwood had taken Traffic’s music through a half-dozen radical permutations, leading with evolutionary zeal to the spacey and wide-open frontiers of The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys and Shoot Out at the Fantasy Factory.
