Leben. Wes Craven wuchs in einer Familie strenggläubiger Baptisten auf, in der neben Alkohol, Zigaretten und Kartenspiel auch das Kino als verpönt galt. Er machte einen Abschluss in Philosophie und „Writing“ an der Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Vor seiner Karriere im Filmgeschäft war er als Lehrer an der Clarkson University in Potsdam, N.Y. tätig.
