He recruited the best in Japanese animation to try to make “Weathering with You” as good as its predecessor.

Of the Makoto Shinkai movies I’ve seen, Weathering With You doesn’t reach the same heights as say Suzume or Your Name. But it’s a beautifully animated movie that hits many of the same story beats as his other films.
