An Event In Autumn is a crime novel by Swedish author Henning Mankell. It is the twelfth installation in the Inspector Wallander series, which was made into the television series Wallander. It was translated by into English by Laurie Thompson in 2013, and published in August 2014 by Vintage Books.
Wallander moves into a dream home with his new girlfriend. But his happiness is shattered when the skeleton of a girl is discovered in the garden. Wallander must try to get his new life back on track by finding her killer, but the case is not as cold as he thinks.—BBC.

According to Yellow Bird producer Daniel Ahlqvist, An Event in Autumn is about how "Kurt tries to take charge of his own life by getting a new house but gets interrupted and is more or less forced back to his job".
With the promise of a new start Kurt Wallander moves into a new home with his girlfriend Vanja. Their happiness is cut short when Wallander's dog unearths a skeleton buried in his garden. The body is of a murdered girl, dead for over ten years. Is this fate or coincidence?
