Walkabout. Ein Walkabout (von englisch walk „gehen“ und about „umher“) bezeichnet das Umherziehen eines australischen Aborigines auf seinen traditionellen Songlines (Traumpfaden). Im engeren Sinne ist der Walkabout ein Einführungsritual für dreizehnjährige Aborigines ( Initiation ), die erstmals den Weg ihres eigenen Traumpfades gehen.
Synopsis. A boy and girl face the challenge of the world’s last frontier. Under the pretense of having a picnic, a geologist takes his teenage daughter and 6-year-old son into the Australian outback and attempts to shoot them. When he fails, he turns the gun on himself, and the two city-bred children must contend with harsh wilderness alone.
