Volunteers es el quinto álbum de la banda de rock norteamericana Jefferson Airplane. Su mayor éxito fue el canto antiguerra «Volunteers», que fue lanzado como sencillo, también en 1969.
Volunteers was the group's first album recorded entirely in San Francisco, at Wally Heider's state-of-the-art 16-track studio. Guest musicians included Jerry Garcia on pedal steel guitar, veteran session pianist Nicky Hopkins, future Airplane drummer Joey Covington on percussion, David Crosby and Stephen Stills.

Jefferson Airplane opted to hire session piano player Nicky Hopkins to record piano parts, which appear on many tracks on the album. Personally I don´t think the piano parts enhance the music and I much prefer the moments without piano.
Nicky Hopkins (guest pianist): I did the [Airplane’s] Volunteers album, then they said, “Can you come and do this open-air concert with us in the east? It’ll be about three days.” I sort of liked the idea and I said yeah, I’ll come down.
From 1969, the sixth album from Jefferson Airplane and the final one to feature the line up of Marty Balin, Grace Slick, Paul Kantner, Jorma Kaukonen, Jack Casady & Spencer Dryden. (Dryden - possibly wisely is not on the 1989 reunion album.) It also features incredible piano playing from Nicky Hopkins.
