With renewed energy, John began work on his “Voice Mail” album; two songs of which, “Hold Me Now” and “Battle Lines,” have become classics among Wetton fans. In fact, “Battle Lines” eventually replaced “Voice Mail” as the album’s title when it was selected as the theme for the film “Chasing the Deer".

Wetton resumed his solo career, making some great – if dismally underappreciated – music: 1994’s Voice Mail (also known as Battle Lines) which featured Fripp, Steve Lukather and drummer Simon Phillips, followed three years later by Arkangel and then Sinister (2000).

John Wetton was, in my humble opinion, one of the best vocalists and one of the best bass players of the progressive rock music. He had a style of bass playing very own and very powerful, which makes of it very distinct and unique. 'Battle Lines' is the third solo studio album of Wetton and was released in 1994.

Six tracks were composed together with Bob Marlette, who was also responsible for additional keyboards (along with a.o.
