Charles Vincent Massey PC CH CC CD FRSC (February 20, 1887 – December 30, 1967) was a Canadian diplomat who served as Governor General of Canada, the 18th since Confederation. Massey was the first governor general of Canada who was born in Canada.

26 de mar. de 2024 · Vincent Massey was a statesman who was the first Canadian to serve as governor-general of Canada (1952–59). Massey lectured in modern history at the University of Toronto from 1913 to 1915 until he was appointed associate secretary of the cabinet war committee during World War I (1914–18).
Vincent Massey was the first Canadian appointed to the post of Governor General, and he served from 1946 to 1959. He promoted Canadian unity and identity, strengthened the bond with the Crown, and supported the arts, education and sciences. He also created the Governor General's Awards, the Gold Medal, and the Massey Lectures.
